Golf Clinics:

During the summer of 2021, my boss asked me to lead the Juniors’ and Ladies' clinics at my local golf course (Cannon Golf Club). I was asked to design these clinics because of my experience working with former head golf pros (2018-2020) on these clinics. The clinics for both age groups focused on three main areas of golf such as putting, chipping, and driving. I believe, when new golfers learn these fundamentals, they will then be able to have fun golfing with friends or family.

Just like coaching, I had to organize, promote, and encourage my golfers to learn the game of golf. The fundamentals taught within the six-week clinic will help them become more comfortable playing with and around other golfers. These are essential leadership skills because they help me create a fun experience for myself and are equally fun for my golfers. With a larger group size for Juniors, I needed help setting up and splitting up into smaller groups. For the clinics, we would have three stations with activities for each. I utilized former golfers from my varsity team, and I also asked my mom(a member and golfer) to help with the clinics. Having helpers at chipping and putting stations allowed me to focus on the fundamentals of the golf swing on the driving range.

With this experience, I have found that I will utilize these personal skills, and I hope to continue this experience in future years. I plan to utilize this experience in the future to deepen my philosophy of leadership. It is important to work one on one with the new golfers, but also focus on the main fundamentals so the new golfers of all skill types will have a chance to become confident and have fun with their friends.
